A horse and a mule walk along a river bottom, searching for graze near our wilderness camp in the Bob Marshall of Montana. Wildfire history and burn patterns can be seen behind them. The wildfire, 5 years previous, didn't torch the lower pines like it did those on the slope. Other pines, killed by the fire and fallen into the river, have washed up on the rock in front.
