Rusty Wheels: An Overall Great Time

June 08, 2013  •  4 Comments

What a perfect day for the Rusty Wheels Old Engine club's spring show!

One of those blue sky days, scattered with puffy white clouds (giving you a break from the sun every once in awhile)...

OVERALL, you couldn't ask for better weather!

Now, this is one of those small town events...

Where admission is free (donations welcome) and the little kids get to watch the big kids still playing with their toys, except they aren't little figurine molds anymore...

They are larger and a bit more complex.

Seeing that OVER ALL that rough exterior, these guys still love to play.

Leading to an OVERALL fun experience for all ages.

The kiddos (Amelia's friend Elliot on the right)...

Slowly became professional tractor drivers...

As the day progressed...

Enjoying themselves for all to see...

Which definitely added to everyone's OVERALL happy mood.

And interest about the equipment.

Here, you can see the featured tractor, an Allis Chalmers model "G", produced in 1948.

Driven by the one and only, Brandon.

Who can't be considered an old goat, OVERALL...

He was one of the more younger drivers in the crowd.

This is a 1923 Fairbanks Morse 1 1/2 Horsepower...in action.

A pump selling leaded gas...

...for 45 cents per gallon.

And a little hidden piece of Chicago area manufacturing history (this company dissolved in the 1940s).

All of the toy train displays were amazing as well...outside

and in.

Even the itty-bitty guy.

And, OVER ALL the area, there were friendly folks selling things...

Nothing twisted about that...

Even the food had an OVERALL great fair flavor to it.

So, go check out the corn sheller...

Or the number 4 engine...

if you're around Harrison area today and rediscover your inner kid...

And enjoy an OVERALL pleasant time, reminiscent of more simpler days...
